Here's what I have so far...When you email me a date/time, please include your phone number. This list needs to be posted in the concession stand and I will send reminders! I will also send a "Concession Stand Manual" for you to look at PRIOR to your scheduled day!

Concession stand help for Talcor

Talcor parents,

 

This is a reminder that we need parents to volunteer for concession duties for our home games.   Right now we only have the first 2 games covered.   We need 3 parents per game.  See the schedule below.   

 

8 total home games with 3 slots each equals 24 slots.    If we subtract 4 coaches and Laura, than means 19 folks need to volunteer once and 5 folks need to serve 2 times.  It's important that all families pitch in to help.   Concession money is used to pay our umpires as well as many other expenses for the park.

Opening game and pictures for Talcor

Talcor parents:   Below is the schedule for pictures for all the teams this Saturday.   Notice that we are first!    As Eileen says, I need all players and coaches at the park by 8:30 so we can get our team pictures done and still have some time for warm-ups.   Opening ceremonies are at 9:30 and will last for about 45 minutes so we will not have any time to warm up after 9:30.   Our game is 10:30 am.

Concession Stand Sign Up!

I will need three (3) people to volunteer to work the concession stand for EACH game that we are home. Each time you see TALCOR listed second on the schedule, I will need three people to volunteer in the concession stand. Please email me a date you would like to volunteer ASAP! I will send you more specific information according to the time you work by email with your reminder. I want to publish the list by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29!

Good Afternoon,

 

A couple of items just FYI:  We will need Dads to help drag the field between each game on Saturday. We have the equipment in the store room, just need man power.

 

LOST and FOUND:  

 

LOST:  1 catchers mask and head gear.  Last seen at park on Sunday night. Notify someone on   Next Level if found.

 

FOUND:  1 Boston Red Sox baseball cap and 1 Atlanta Braves baseball cap. They are upstairs at the park.

Talcor schedule next 2 weeks

I just got back in town tonight after a great 3 day weekend in Orlando. 
Thanks to Coach Newell and the dads for running practice this past Saturday!
 
This will be a busy week for us with 3 days of baseball. Here's the 
lowdown:
 2/20 Wednesday - regular practice at 5 pm
 2/21 Thursday - practice game with Fonville (be there at 5 pm, game should 
start ~ 5:30 pm)
 2/23 Saturday - regular practice 3-5
 2/27 Wednesday - regular practice 5 - 7
 3/2 Saturday - opening day, we open the season with the 1st game
 
I need to know asap if you can't make the practice game this Thursday.
 
A reminder that it will help if you can get your son throwing, catching, and 
swinging a bat as much as possible. Also get anyone who wants to pitch 
throwing ~ 30-50 pitches every other day if possible. The general idea is 
have them focus on the catcher, or whatever target they are throwing at, get 
accustomed to the motion we have been working on, follow through, and think 
strikes. I don't care about speed this early in the season. We need to 
build a pitching staff to support the team.

From Coach Newell...

Eileen thanks for reminding everyone to check the webpage frequently, it is excellent resource. Remember too we still have practice Wednesday the 20th at 5pm. I told Coach Dudley the boys had a great practice, but we still have some work to do. Big thanks to the Dad's that helped out today, you all did a great job. It sure is nice to see so many parents who are interested in helping.

SCRIMMAGE, 2/21/08

Parents,

We will have a SCRIMMAGE game on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, time is TBA. Please plan to have your son there. Contact Coach if you are unable attend!

Winthrop Park Game Rules!

FYI:

On week nights, the early game will start at 5:45 P.M., and the late game will be scheduled to start at 7:30 P.M. Any team not able to field a team (at least 7 players) within 10 minutes of the Umpire-in-Chief announcing “Play ball” will forfeit the game.

All regular season games are scheduled to last 6 innings, but a new inning will not start after 1 hour and 45 minutes (1 hour and 30 minutes for the early game). No inning will commence after 10 P.M. Consistent with Ripken rules, 4 innings (3 and 1/2 innings if the home team is ahead) must be completed for an official game. The time will be recorded and kept by the Official Scorekeeper, and he or she will decide when a game should be called because of the time-limit rule.

Concession Stand Duty!

Parents,

I am beginning to make the schedule for March 1-March 14. Please let me know any dates you are UNAVAILABLE. Look for the schedule to be posted early next week.

Concession Stand Duty is as follows:

If you are the second team listed on the game schedule, your team has concession duty. We need 3 workers 30 minutes prior to the game. 5:15 for early game and 7pm for late game. This means ready to work, (not ready to make one more phone call, or go get a players cleats, or change from work clothing). Usually, one parent will be relieved from duty when the grill is turned off.

TEAM REP/NEW PARENT MEETING

FYI:

There is mandatory team rep meeting on 2/24 (Sunday) at 3pm. In the event your rep cannot attend, please send a proxy. New parents are welcome to attend and receive orientation to the park.

Please make your check out to B & B Sporting Goods. You may give checks to Brian Rajotte at Wednesday's practice or I will be at practice on Saturday and would be happy to collect your checks and take them to B & B for you. If you forgot if a Child or Adult size was ordered, please call (850) 222-0682 to verify.

If you did not order the belts and socks with the team, please note there are TWO color "maroon." Talcor is NOT the "cardinal" color! Talcor is the other maroon!

Pictures, pictures, pictures!

I know we all take a lot of pictures during the season. The past several years we have given out to each player a disk set to music that contain all the pictures of players, siblings and fans. This is a nice memory for the boys. If this is something you are willing to spear-head, please let me know!!! If you are able to contribute pictures you have taken, please save them to a CD and I'll give it to the parent who is putting it all together.

If you need examples, I have some for you!

Parent Meeting on Saturday, February 2

The first parent meeting was yesterday, February 2. I will post a link to the notes next week for those who missed it.

Practices will be on Wednesdays from 5-7 and Saturdays from 3-5. The season starts the first Saturday in March. There are only seven practices, so please let the coaches know if your son cannot be there. It's a young team so it is important that repetition continues at home.

Contact information was emailed on Saturday, February 2. This is the most updated list available. If there are changes to be made, please email me. I will post a link to the list on this webpage next week.
